1.what inspired the work?
A soft beam of light came from the paper window, reflection of diverse objects on the window, various images seen through the worn window holes inspired me deeply.
2.what do you hope its viewers will feel? Through my creations, I invite everyone to discover a tranquil forest within their heart, offering a chance to pause, breathe, and find peace amidst life's chaos.
 3. why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? Hanji, Korean traditional paper, is a translucent material. Hanji was used to make the paper window, hence it made the same “reflecting effect” on the canvas. Incense &Hanji are used for ancestral rites .As a daughter-in-law who has participated in ancestral rites for a long time, the ritual burning process was familiar to me. This familiarity led me to incorporate traces left by burning Korean paper with incense into my work. I flame incense first and I burn the paper. if so, there are burn marks on paper. I layered it repeatedly on my canvas so it can look transparent. Forest is a place where countless living organisms interact, creating a microcosm where the energy circulates endlessly and life regenerates. It stimulates the five senses, restoring vitality and encouraging human beings to rest, reflect, and connect with their inner selves. During times of pain, I turned to the forest for solace; it rejuvenated my spirit and brought me back to life. This mysterious place became my sanctuary. The enigmatic qualities of the forest inspire me to capture its essence through my artwork, reinterpreting its various elements in forest -lines, planes, and colors. it is ready to hang

Andante25abc

Andante36

1. What / who inspired you the most?
My greatest inspiration comes from my childhood memories of living in a traditional Korean house. The soft light passing through paper windows, reflections, and the worn textures of Hanji deeply influenced my imagination.
2. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think?
I hope viewers will experience a sense of calm and reflection, as if walking through a quiet forest within themselves. My work is an invitation to pause, breathe, and find peace amidst the chaos of everyday life.
3. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style?
I chose Hanji, traditional Korean paper, because it holds both personal and cultural meaning for me. The act of burning it with incense reflects the rituals I have long practiced, merging memory, tradition, and chance. This process allows me to reinterpret nature’s energy—lines, colors, and forms—into abstract expressions that connect the past with the present.
